REpower Systems SE, a Suzlon Group-subsidiary has signed a contract with Meridian Energy Limited to supply 64 MM92 wind turbines, each with 2.05 MW of rated power, to Mt Mercer wind farm, based in Victoria, Australia.
This is REpower’s largest ‘supply & install’ contract for its MM series turbines in Australia till now as well as first contract with Meridian Energy. The wind turbines will be installed and commissioned between September next year and January 2015.
“Being awarded this contract during our ‘10 years in Australia’ celebrations underscores REpower Australia’s longstanding commitment to the Australian wind energy industry and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy target which will deliver around 7 GW of new wind generating capacity in Australia by 2020,” Chris Judd, CEO of REpower Australia said on the occasion.
“This is a landmark order – we are delighted that our wind turbine technology has been selected by Meridian Energy to construct the Mt Mercer wind farm.
