Shailendra Mohan Bebortha is the news MD of REC Systems India

The largest supplier of solar modules in Europe, Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) has announced Shailendra Mohan Bebortha as Managing Director for REC Systems India. Besides incorporating REC Systems in India, REC also announced opening of a new REC Solar Sales office in Noida, near New Delhi.

REC Systems develops, installs and sells high-tech solar power plants with most reliable quality guarantees in the industry. The REC team manages all stages of PV project and turnkey solutions, customised to the needs. REC uses high performance and cost efficient module technology in combination with its extensive experience and access to financing, thereby uniquely positioning it to realise medium and large solar systems.

Having joined REC Systems India on 9 July, Bebortha is entrusted to build up the organization and execute REC strategy to expand the market for utility-scale solar power plants. Bebortha offers a wealth of industry knowledge owing to his years of experience in the global solar industry. Combined with REC Solar’s sales activities and the new office in India, his knowledge will help REC further penetrate this booming new market. India has an estimated potential of 12 GW of solar projects by 2016, according to REC, which is in line with the National Solar Mission launched in 2010.

“We are very pleased to welcome Shailendra Mohan Bebortha as Managing Director for REC Systems India. He brings with him vast professional experiences as well as a strong network in the renewable energy sector. India has huge potential for solar energy and we look forward to continuously build our presence in the market with Shailendra and providing India with consistent electricity delivery,” Terje Pilskog, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Systems, REC said.

“I believe that my skill set will be well-applied and make a solid contribution to the company’s vision for growth. I am looking forward to helping REC System expand and strengthen their presence in the Indian market,” Bebortha said.

Prior to joining REC Systems India, Bebortha was Head of Project Finance at Sunborne Energy and was responsible for fundraising, project structuring and risk management of solar projects. Earlier, he was Director with Epuron Renewable Energy India, working primarily with finance and strategy projects. Bebortha holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a post-graduate diploma in International Trade Laws.
