RE can save from pollutants: AP state PCB

Shifting to renewable energy can in turn save us from multiple problems of pollution, generated mostly from use of fossil fuel, according to Andhra Pradesh state Pollution Control Board (PCB).

Industrial effluents, population explosion, excessive use of pesticides and domestic sewerage are four major pollutants of Hyderabad city, B Madhusudana Rao, joint chief environmental engineer with the PCB observed while delivering the key note address at a workshop on ‘new and renewable energy and its applications’.

“The increasing dependency on fossil fuels such as coal, oil, gas etc, is also accountable for causing pollution. The renewable energy is green, clean and sustainable and is also available in plenty,” Rao said.

M Srinivasa Rao, chemical engineer, PCB spoke on the applications of solar energy in industrial units and regular households highlighting its advantages. PCB officials also discussed about wind energy and its uses.
