Since December 2011, a 1-megawatt plant in the southern Hungarian town of Szeged WELTEC BIOPOWER is in operation. The example of this biogas plant is clear that the intermediate storage has advantages and impacts the overall efficiency of the plant positive.
The caching of raw biogas offers then just a clever alternative, if the biogas processing with Einspeisestation not economically be represented. This INWATECH produced as a co-owner along with Zöldforrás Energia, a subsidiary company of the utility DÉMÁSZ, in the two fermentors per hour 440 standard cubic meters raw gas. The biogas yield amounts to about 10,500 standard cubic meters per day. With a running time of 7000 hours per year, the CHP plant will generate, according to plan more than four million kilowatts per year. Experience has shown that the yield in routine practice will be even higher.
The waste heat is used, among other things, to office buildings to condition on site. Additionally to be alfalfa pellets and dried and heated pig houses (300 kw): Nine months a year, so daily for about 20 hours of heat delivered. The use of heat raises the efficiency of the plant to over 80 percent, and the exhaustion of energy-Thermoener approximately nine million kilowatt hours per year. The digesters are approximately 1.2 million kilowatt hours of process heat needed so that the annual surplus amounted to about 7.7 million kilowatt hours.
For the operator, it would also have alternative forms of memory in the system given. In addition to the costs that are covered by the higher remuneration in Szeged, was the safety of the spherical gas storage is an important criterion. As the Hungarian partner had INWATECH used this type of memory in other projects, and had very good experiences, the vote for the spherical gas storage was clear.
In Germany, demand for external storage is still restrained, although there’s interest in the topic is. Should this situation change has already WELTEC expertise in this area.
